Our marine fans are low-voltage fans that do not plug into the grid; therefore, they do not require CSA or UL certifications.
The part that you are referring to is a ferrite bead. The ferrite bead is required to meet Electromagnetic immunity and emission compliance requirements by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and must not be removed. Without this ferrite bead, other electronic devices near the fan may experience electromagnetic interference when operating. This will vary with the specific equipment and proximity to the fan. You can cut the heat shrink tubing off to eliminate some of the bulk surrounding the ferrite. Arrange the wires so that two are on the side and one is on the opposite side. This will allow it to lay flatter.
The body of each fan is made from plastic. Depending on the fan, the plastic used may be FR ABS or ASA. The blades are made of polyethylene.
No. Our fans are not 'ignition proof' certified or tested. In an engine room, there is always the risk of having fuel and hydrocarbon fumes. For this reason, we do not recommend our fans be used in this environment. Our fans use a brushed motor, with an expected brush life of 5000 to 7500 hours. Operating the fans 24-hours will wear the brushes in a shorter time frame than the normally expected duty cycle.
Yes! The 747/757 Ultimate Fans, 817 Kona or 7482 Maestro Fan would be suitable.
The dimensions of the fan are approximately: 6.5" W x 3" L x 9.5" H, (165.1mm x 76.2mm x 241.3mm).
