Feature: Trip in a Van
Their Instagram bio says it all: Sold everything for an adventure around Australia! But it also leaves you wanting so much more, right? Thankfully, they’ve got a lot more to say. Trip in a Van’s blog is full of tips for living the road life as a family, but their tips are universal and helpful for any family. Everything from family activities, to meals, to raising well adjusted children is there. Even if they’ve given a lot up, they seem to have it all together.
Of course, our favourite tip is investing in quality gear. When you’re living the road life, every item needs to earn its spot, and we’re so happy our Sirocco II fan not only made the cut for TIAV, but they’ve opted to install 5!
SEEKR by Caframo: Where are you right now, where were you before and where are you going next?
Trip in a Van: We are currently in Broome, Western Australia. Exploring the Kimberley Region is an absolute must on your travels around Australia.
Next, we are heading south down the West Coast to explore the Pilbara and Coral Coast region.
SBC: Tell us about yourself. Why’d you choose your lifestyle? How long have you been at it? Any plans for the near future? Distant future?
TIAV: We are a young family of 5. We used to be stuck in the coal mining game, working long hours and shift work. This was no good for our family vibe, so we decided to hit the road! We have been on the road for 6 years with no end in sight. We absolutely love it!!
SBC: Tell us about your rig. How long have you had it, how much distance have you put on it, where have you taken it?
TIAV: We have recently upgraded our gear & travel with a 200 Series Land Cruiser and a Sunseeker Desert Storm caravan. Both are built for full off-road and off-grid travels. They are both 18 months old and we have done around 50,000kms travel in them so far.
SBC: What product(s) of ours do you have onboard? How’s it working out for you?
TIAV: We have 5 of the Sirocco II fans throughout the caravan and they are honestly the best!! We do so much free camping on beaches and in the outback, so to have 12-volt fans that are quiet and power efficient is a game changer for keeping us cool in the van.
SBC: We found you through an online community you’re part of and seem to be actively involved with. What’s the vibe like these days? Are you finding more people are starting to live the way you are?
TIAV: The vibe is good. Loads of families on the road now which is great. They are all getting to experience the amazing things we have seen so it’s exciting for us to know that we have been an inspiration to them all.
SBC: It’s a weird time for the world. How have you been affected personally or how has your lifestyle changed recently?
TIAV: To be honest we have been very lucky with the issues over the last few years. Living on the road has enabled us to move around to locations that are not affected and to carry on life as normal.
