Many people consider their pets to be a core part of the family unit: they’re always there to help us celebrate milestones, motivate us to go for a run, and greet us with a smile after a long day’s work. It’s no wonder more and more intrepid Australians are bringing their pets along for their travels! According to a recent survey of the Avida RV Club, around 30% of people exploring Australia in a caravan, RV, or motorhome do so with a dog, cat, and other pet.

Whether it’s a short trip you’re after or an intense cross-country hike, there is the perfect adventure waiting for you and your four-legged friend out there. To inspire you, here are some of our favourite influential doggos (and their owners). Wanderlust starting… NOW!

Jess and Colby (@Jessandcolby) are travelling full-time across Australia with their two dogs, Jimmy and Fred (@jimmy.and.fred). From just a quick squizz at their Instagram, it’s abundantly clear: these four LOVE adventure.

You’ll find Jimmy and Fred paddle or skateboarding with their humans, exploring rock pools, filming on their doggie GoPros, soaking up the sun on the beach, hiking, camping, and much more. This handsome pair of pups can’t stop smiling - they’re having the time of their lives!

If chasing the sun isn’t an option for you, there’s plenty of animal-friendly winter fun to be had! Sonny the “foster fail” (@Sonny_The_Goodest_Boy) is another dog who ain’t scared of the elements. Geared up and ready to go in his hoodie, goggles and booties, he and his owner recently enjoyed a trip to the small Victorian Skiing town of Dinner Plain.

Gigi and Florence (@travellingiggys on Instagram) are petite Italian Greyhounds who document their travels across Australia. Another great winter-pastime, they recently enjoyed a dog-friendly wine tour in the Barossa Valley with their owners Laura and Marius (@Lauraplusmarius on Instagram), who have a blog dedicated to travelling with dogs.

Duke and Daisy (@duke_and_daisy_do_oz) are two dashing bulldogs who also prefer to take things a little slower, tagging along while their humans chase an endless summer around Australia in a 76 Kombi. These pups can be found catching some Zs in the sand, admiring the sunset, or soaking up the summer rays.
